Police responded to an incident in Central Hawkes Bay today at approximately 1pm in which it was reported a man allegedly presented a firearm at another person and then was at large with two firearms.
Cordons were put in place in the area of State Highway 2 between Waipukurau and Takapau. The Armed Offenders’ Squad and Police Negotiating Team were deployed.
The 57 year-old man from Hawkes Bay was located by Police and taken into custody by members of the Armed Offenders’ Squad without incident. Police are now speaking to this man.
Police are continuing the investigation and have no further comment at this time.
