Attribute to Nelson Bays Area Commander Inspector Mat Arnold-Kelly
At around 3pm Police assisted by the Armed Offenders Squad stopped and searched a Community Corrections van on St John Street following information an occupant of the van could be in possession of a firearm.
Five people were detained while the van was searched and the road was closed for a short period of time.
An item of interest was located and seized, it will be forensically examined.
No one has been arrested or charged at this stage and enquiries are ongoing.
