Arrest following car break-ins, Levin

1 min read

A Levin man has been arrested today following a recent spate of cars being broken into at rural car parks in the Levin area.

The 18-year-old has been charged with theft and is due to appear in the Levin District Court tomorrow (31 August).

Senior Sergeant Sarn Paroli says over the past two months a number of people who have parked in rural car parks at the entrance to bushwalks have had their cars broken into and property stolen from them.

“The arrest which follows from some very good work by the Levin Tactical Crime Unit is a pleasing result and also a timely reminder for people to ensure their vehicles are locked, valuables are not left in vehicles or are locked away out of sight.”

Anyone who witnesses any suspicious behaviour in car parks or around parked vehicles is urged to call 111 immediately.
