Police are thanking members of the public for information which led to the arrest of a man in relation to a robbery in Porirua.

A man entered a shop on Mungavin Ave on Christmas Eve, before punching the store manager and taking an amount of cash.

Detective Senior Sergeant Ian Martin wants to thank members of the public for their assistance.

"We really appreciate those people who have come forward with information, which has helped lead to a quick arrest.

"We take this sort of offending extremely seriously, and we hope the arrest goes some way to helping reassure the victim and the community," DSS Martin says.

A 30 year old man was arrested today and is due in the Porirua District Court tomorrow, December 28, on a robbery charge.
