Arrests following aggravated robbery, Dunedin

1 min read

Three people have been arrested in relation to the aggravated robbery of the Law Courts Hotel in Dunedin around midnight last night (Thursday 21 December).

A group of people entered the hotel, threatened an employee with a knife and stole cash.

Search warrants were carried out in Dunedin and Christchurch today.

A 28-year-old man and 25-year-old woman have been charged with aggravated robbery and are due to appear in the Dunedin District Court tomorrow.

A 47-year-old woman has also been charged with aggravated robbery and is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court tomorrow.

Detective Sergeant Dave Nelson says a cross district team effort lead to the early arrests and as the investigation is ongoing further charges could be likely.

“It was a great team effort both here in Dunedin and with our colleagues in Christchurch that enabled the alleged offenders to be arrested and charged in such a short period of time.”
