Ashburton Crime Spree

Canterbury Police have been kept busy over night with a number of burglaries.  At about 11.30pm there was a break in at Redmonds Homeware Store, Ashburton.    

In the early hours of Monday morning there was a commercial burglary at the Temuka New World.  The offender attempted to gain access to locked cabinets. 

Approximately 45 minutes later there was a break in at Robbie’s Bar and Restaurant, Ashburton.  A vehicle was taken.  

Soon after Police received reports of an alarm activation at the Tinwald Supervalue.  The offender entered and stole numerous items. 

Police located the stolen vehicle nearby.  

The vehicle fled from Police and a short time later crashed into the Ashburton KFC.  The driver was captured after a foot pursuit and is currently in custody.  Two other occupants fled on foot.     Enquiries are continuing.
