Assault on 70-year-old

Hutt Valley Police are investigating a serious assault that was reported in the early hours this morning.  Detective Sergeant Christiaan Barnard said, “Three unknown males have gone to an address in Bush Street, Naenae and smashed a number of windows.

“When the 70-year-old victim came out to confront the offenders, they set upon him, striking him about the body and head.  He suffered a fractured collar bone and required stitches to his head.  They then left in a vehicle along Bush Street towards Treadwell Street.”

Police are seeking sightings of this vehicle which has been described as a dark coloured four wheel drive, possibly a Nissan Terrano or Pathfinder.  The offenders have been described as Pacific Island males wearing dark clothing.
