Brett Makiri was arrested just before midnight at an address in Papatoetoe. He will appear in Auckland District Court today charged with kidnapping, injuring with intent to injure, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and escaping Police custody.
Detective Senior Sergeant John Sutton says Mr Makiri had shaved his head in an attempt to disguise himself.
The arrest was made by Auckland Central Crime Squad following the searching of several houses of Mr Makiri's associates with the assistance of Counties Manukau Police and Delta Dog Squad.
