Burglars held to account through multiple search warrants in Central District

1 min read

Staff from Central Police District have executed twenty search warrants in a co-ordinated effort from Levin to New Plymouth to prevent home burglaries.

A number of arrests have been made following searches in Taranaki, Whanganui and the Manawatu region this week.

A substantial amount of property has been recovered, including furniture and household electronics, which will be identified and returned to their rightful owners.

Dwelling burglaries have a harmful impact on communities; they’re invasive and can make people feel vulnerable. Central District Police will continue to focus on the prevention of dwelling burglaries, providing the best support for victims and holding offenders to account.

Officers would like to thank local communities for providing vital information which helped lead to the searches.

Police remind people to secure their properties and report any suspicious behaviour to Police at the time. Information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Victims stand a better chance of having recovered stolen goods returned to them if serial numbers from products are lodged on the SNAP website.

All of those arrested are being processed through the court system.
