Canterbury Police calling for information on attempted aggravated robbery

Canterbury Police are calling for information from the public after a man armed with a firearm attempted to rob the Division Street Dairy, Riccarton last night.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in and around Division Street on Monday 4 July between 7-8pm.

The male attempted to gain entry to the dairy by pushing and pulling the unlocked sliding door. After failing to gain entry the man has left on foot south on Division Street towards Blenheim Road.

Police began a search of the scene and surrounding area immediately after being notified by the dairy owner but were unable to locate the male.

The male is described as approximately 170cm tall of medium build. At the time of the offence the man was wearing a grey hoodie with a dark coloured top underneath, dark blue jeans, dark grey sneakers with white soles and white laces and white socks with black trim.

Anyone with information on the man is asked to call Christchurch Police on 03 363 7400 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
