Car recovered linked to Matamata home invasion

1 min read

A day on from a violent attack of a man in his Matamata home, Waikato Police are working with Bay of Plenty colleagues following the recovery of a vehicle of interest overnight.

Eastern Waikato Area Manager Investigations, Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Pitkethley said the victim of yesterday’s attack had been released from hospital and was recovering at home.

“A scene examination of the Sylvan Pl property where the 1.55am attack took place was completed yesterday as was the interviewing of witnesses and some persons of interest.

“Overnight Police in Rotorua located a white Subaru Legacy of interest to our inquiry team and an examination of that car and an interview of the male driver are being conducted today. That being said, this was a serious assualt and we would ask that those involved or anyone who knows the location of those involved make contact with Police before matters escalate further.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Mr Pitkethley at the Matamata Police Station on 07 858 6200.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously with the independent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
