Car recovered from West Coast river

Police have this morning recovered the car that crashed into the Wanganui River near Harihari on Tuesday.
The car was about 50 metres down stream from the crash site and a crane was used to pull it from the water about 10am today.
Two bodies were located in the car. Police are confident of the identities of the deceased but no information in relation to the pair will be released until formal identification has been completed and next of kin notified.
The car has been taken away to be examined and the serious crash investigation is continuing.
