1 min read

Canterbury Police have arrested and charged the female passenger in the fleeing vehicle involved in the crash on Yaldhurst Road on Monday (24 November 2014).

The 27 year old woman, from Auckland, will appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow (29 November 2014) charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for Supply following a detention under the Misuse of Drugs Amendment Act 1978.

“The woman was detained until the internally concealed drugs were passed” explained Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cottam.

"Police will continue to take action to prevent and disrupt the availability of drugs such as methamphetamine reaching the streets.  These drugs cause considerable social harm to users, their families and also victims of the crimes that are often committed in order to buy the drug."

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Cottam said “Depending on the outcome of Police inquiries, further charges may be laid as a result of the crash on Yaldhurst Road.”

Police investigations are ongoing.

Police will not be making any further comment regarding the crash as it is the subject of an ongoing IPCA investigation.
