Circumstances of Rotorua death still unknown

1 min read

A post mortem examination has now been completed in relation to a man found dead in a Rotorua stream yesterday.

Whilst Police have a provisional cause of death more work needs to be carried out to establish the exact circumstances that led to the man’s death. Police will not discuss the outcome of the post mortem examination.

It is still too soon to speculate as to whether the man’s death is suspicious or not and at this stage it remains an unexplained death.

Police hope to be able to release details of the man’s identity tomorrow once satisfied that his next of kin have been informed.

At that point Police will be appealing for assistance from the public to piece together the last movements of the man.

In the meantime if anyone has any information that might assist Police they are asked to contact Rotorua Police on 07 348 0099. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Media enquiries should be referred to Communications Manager Kim Perks on 027 234 8256.
