Police advise there has been no change to the situation in the Cloverlea area since last night.

Police are seeking Caleb Kovaleski, a 25-year-old man who is wanted to arrest.

We continue to appreciate the patience being shown by local residents throughout this event. We understand this incident is proving to be disruptive and that people want to go back to their homes and return to their routines.

However, our priority in this case is to keep the public safe. Therefore, the Police cordons will remain in place until further notice.

Local people will continue to see armed police and armed offender squad members in the Cloverlea area, Palmerston North.

If anyone is unable to find alternative accommodation, please approach Police staff at the Cloverlea Hotel and seek advice.

Cordons remain in place at the following locations:

Gillespies line – Flygers line
Benmore Avenue
Herbert Avenue
Tremaine Avenue
Bennet Street and Bemmore Avenue.

Cloverlea Primary School and Kindergarten will be closed today while the cordons remain in place.

For those residents inside the cordons Police ask that they remain vigilant and keep their properties safe, secure their doors and windows, and if they have any concerns or see suspicious behaviour please call police on 111.

We also ask people whose homes are vacant to contact us with their address and contact number on Facebook via private message. This is so we can contact them to clear their addresses and advise when it is safe to return.

Caleb Kovaleski is described as a European male, thin to medium build and approximately 178cm tall.

He should not be approached and Police advise the public to call 111 immediately if they see him.
