Correction of date in Kilbirnie alleged attack information

In relation to a media release issued regarding an alleged attack in Kilbirnie, please note a correction to the day given for which the incident occured.

The correct date is Wednesday 18 July. 

Police apologises for the error.

Police are attempting to identify the victim of an alleged attack in Kilbirnie on 18 July 2018.

It is believed the incident took place around 10.50pm on a footpath near the corner of Onepu Rd and Wha St.

"Police have received some social media footage of what appears to be a man being assaulted in Onepu Road, Kilbirnie, Wellington,” said
Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee.          

The footage shows the alleged victim carrying grocery bags from Pak'n'Save and a brown skateboard.

He appears to have been assaulted and robbed.

Police are investigating and would like to hear from the man in the footage, offer him support and establish what happened.

“I would like him to come forward and contact Police,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee.

“Police would like to hear from any members of the community that may have any information in regards to this matter.”
