Death in Tauranga being treated as suspcious

1 min read

Police in Tauranga are treating the death of a man as suspicious.

The man was found dead by neighbours at approximately 10am this morning at an address in Kesteven Avenue. No more information on the man will be released until police have located and notified his next of kin.

The address has been cordoned off along with an area of the nearby Merivale Primary School for a scene examination by police and ESR. Police are liaising with the school to discuss any impact this work may have on the school tomorrow. An area canvass is also underway and a post mortem will be carried out to establish cause of death.

Police want to hear from anyone in the area last night or this morning who has any information that may assist with this investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tauranga Police on 07 577 4300. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Media enquiries should be referred to Communications Manager Kim Perks on 027 234 8256.
