Marlborough Police have executed several search warrants over the past two days targeting an organised drug dealing network.

Local staff as well as the Tasman Armed Offenders Squad were deployed to assist.

Six arrests have been made and a range of drug dealing charges have been filed.   Those charges include supplying methamphetamine, conspiring to supply methamphetamine, receiving stolen property and possession of an offensive weapon.

Further charges are pending as the investigation continues.

The six arrests are an unemployed 48-year-old male, an unemployed 26-year old female, a 28-year old mother, a 22-year old male dairy worker, a 28-year old male builder and a 37-year old male glazier.

A small quantity of both methamphetamine and cannabis has been recovered along with $3500 cash, ammunition, a $2500 rifle scope and $12000 a specialist copper detector used in the electrical industry.

“Marlborough Police are confident that the operation has disrupted a well organised drug dealing network and prevented further methamphetamine entering our community through these established channels.

We are determined to continue our work in this area and reduce harm in our community. If you are a drug dealer in Marlborough you can expect a visit from the police at some stage.”
