Elderly female pedestrian killed.

Emergency services were called to a vehicle crash in Ash Street, Avondale at approximately 9.50pm.

A car leaving a service station in Ash Street has struck an elderly female pedestrian crossing the road. She has died at the scene.

Police staff are currently talking to the driver of the car.

The family of victim who is belived to be in her 80's, is also present at the scene.

Inspector Tony Wakelin said "This is a sad and tragic incident involving an elderly local resident. Victim support has been arranged for the family and the Serious Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash"
