The mother and her three children who had been lost on Mt Pirongia overnight are now out of the bush and safe.
The family were found in the early hours of this morning by search and resuce teams after heading out for a walk up to the Pahuatea hut near the mountain summit late yesterday afternoon.
The group called for assistance once it got dark and they found themselves lost.
Search and resuce teams walked the family out this morning and were out of the bush just after 7am. The family were checked by ambulance staff and were fine.
