Fatal motor vehicle crash in Queenstown

A 74 year old woman has died as a result of the motor vehicle crash this afternoon on SH6, Frankton-Ladies Mile Highway in Queenstown.

The crash occurred at about 3.50pm today and involved two cars colliding head-on.

The deceased woman was the driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles.  The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle is in hospital with moderate injuries.

Police Serious Crash Investigators are currently at the scene.   At this stage the cause of the crash is not known and enquiries are continuing.

Police are asking that any witnesses to the crash contact Detective Grant Miller of the Queenstown Police on Ph 03 4411600.

Traffic diversions put in place on SH6 as a result of the crash are expected to be removed shortly. 

The name of the deceased woman will be released once next of kin have been advised.
