Fleeing driver incident - Papatoetoe

1 min read

At approximately 4am this morning Police attempted to pull over a vehicle driving dangerously on Great South Road, Papatoetoe.

The driver failed to stop and a short time later the fleeing vehicle crashed into two unoccupied parked vehicles and overturned.

The vehicle was occupied by five juveniles who are now in Middlemore Hospital receiving treatment. Two have serious injuries and three have moderate injuries.

The Police Serious Crash Unit is now investigating and is in attendance at the scene this morning.

For that reason road blocks are in place on Great South Road between Watson Place and St George Street.

The road will be blocked for at least another 2 hours.

Police apologises for any inconvenience caused to motorists and thanks them for their patience.
