Four arrested following disorder in Waimate

Canterbury Police have arrested three men and a female following an ongoing investigation into a disorder incident n the 15 November 2015 in Waimate.

Acting Sergeant Paul Alden urges anyone who has any information that can help with this ongoing investigation to contact Police. "Everyone has a right to be safe and feel safe whether they are at home, at work our out socialising. Police will not tolerate violence in any form and take matters such as these. very seriously.  We would like to thank the members of the public who have assisted with our investigations."

Three men from Waimate have been arrested and are due to appear in Timaru District Court in 20 November 2015 on the following charges.

  • A 53 year old man is charged with assault with a weapon. 
  • A 26 year old man is charged with Crimes Act Assault and two charges of assault with a weapon. 
  • A 27 year old man is charged with Breach of Bail, Driving with Excess Alcohol, Reckless Driving, two charges of Crimes Act Assault.

A 33yr old female from Waimate was also arrested and has been summonsed to appear in Timaru District Court on 15 December 2015 charged with Crimes Act Assault.

Police inquiries are continuing and it is possible that further arrests will be made in the coming days.
