Hawke's Bay Police appeal for information on Tamatea assault

Hawke’s Bay Police are appealing for information about an incident on Thursday morning in Tamatea, Napier. 
 
A female teenager was walking from Wharerangi Road to Cardiff Place, via an alleyway, when she was reportedly assaulted by a short, stocky male dressed in dark clothing, including a hooded sweatshirt. 
 
The male ran off back towards Wharerangi Road after the victim fought back. 
 
Before the assault, the male is said to have walked from the direction of Westminster Road/Donegal Crescent, down Wharerangi Road. 
 
The victim was shaken, but uninjured, and is being supported by family. The motive for the attack is unconfirmed. 
 
Police would like to speak with anyone who may have information regarding what happened.
