Information sought from public after fleeing driver incident in Christchurch

1 min read

Police are seeking information from the public about a fleeing driver incident which began in Avondale, Christchurch this afternoon.

The driver of a white Subaru Impreza drove at two Police officers attempting to lay road spikes on QE2 Drive, near Marshland Road, around 12:20pm.

Thankfully, the officers were uninjured.

The driver had failed to stop for Police and was pursued for a short time, before Police abandoned the pursuit due to the offender’s manner of driving.

“This driving puts the public at risk. Police officers have families to go home to and deserve to be safe in their work,” says Sergeant Chris Barker.

“This is totally unacceptable behaviour. A number of people witnessed the ludicrous driving by the offender, and Police ask them to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information can contact Sergeant Barker at Christchurch Police Station on (03) 363 7400.
