Police are investigating after a member of the public has reported the body of a 32 year old male next to a damaged white Toyota Corolla around 7.30am this morning. The vehicle was located about 200m south down Paekakariki Hill Road from the summit.
Police will be looking to recover the deceased and the vehicle which are in a difficult position on the road side with the vehicle currently being anchored by a Fire appliance. The recovery and scene examination in the surrounding area may take some time and at this stage Paekakariki Hill Road is closed until further notice.
Police and Victim Support are working to advise and support the man's family and his name will not be released until this process is complete.
