2 min read

Attribute to Detective Inspector Darryl Sweeney, Canterbury CIB:

As a result of information received by police, we now have a last confirmed sighting of Renee Larissa Duckmanton.

Renee was last seen around the Peterborough St and Manchester St areas between 8.00pm and 10.00pm on the night of Saturday, 14 May 2016.

Police now believe Renee’s work in the sex industry may have been a factor in her death. However, we continue to remind the public that she was a vibrant 22 year-old who was a much loved daughter, sister, and member of her family.

Police are asking for anyone who saw Renee between 8.00pm on Saturday night through to Sunday evening, or if you know of her movements between these times, to please contact the Christchurch Central Police Station on 03 363 7400.

Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously via the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police would also like to hear from any of her clients, the clients of any other woman in the area, and anyone who was working in the Manchester and Peterborough Street area that night.

A large team of police staff continue to make progress in our investigation. The information we’ve received from the public has continued to be a significant help in this and we continue to urge anyone who has information to get in contact with us.

Police continue to complete a number of other scene examinations across Christchurch in relation to our investigations. Staff will continue to remain in these areas while we speak with members of the public.

Police have also increased our patrol of the Manchester St area. Staff will be looking to speak with those in the area and to provide reassurance and advice to those we speak with.

We do want to let those working in this area that we would like to hear from them, even if they saw Renee just briefly. There are a number of channels through which they can contact police, and they should feel safe to do so in any way they choose.

Police have also made contact with Anna Reid at the New Zealand Prostitutes collective and will be working closely with her with any concerns that may be held.
