Investigations continue into incident between cyclist and car driver

Police officers investigating an incident involving a car and a cyclist on Fitzgerald Ave between approximately 7am and 7.30am on Wednesday 15 October 2014.  Police are appealing for any independent witnesses to make contact with them.

The incident was reported to have started with a verbal confrontation which resulted in a car and bike colliding and a physical confrontation.

As part of the ongoing Police investigation dash-cam footage from the car involved in the incident has been seized.  Two images from the incident have been included with this release.

The officer leading the investigation, Acting Senior Sergeant Dave Robertson, said “While the investigation is continuing, Police have indicated that it is likely both parties will face charge(s) in relation to the incident.”

A number of drivers are understood to have witnessed the incident and Police urge anyone who has not already made contact to call them on 03 373 9159.
