Man arrested after twice failing to stop for police in Rotorua

1 min read

A 31-year-old Rotorua man is appearing in court tomorrow after failing to stop for Police twice today.

The man failed to stop a vehicle for Police in the Brent Road area around 8:50am, and a short pursuit was initiated. It was abandoned in Morey Street.

The vehicle was last seen being driven at speed on Tarawera Road.

The same vehicle was seen again around 2:30pm on Te Ngae Road, Owhata, and the man failed to stop for Police when requested.

The man drove across a median barrier, and also attempted to drive the vehicle straight towards a Police officer who was laying road spikes.

Police abandoned the pursuit due to the man’s manner of driving. He was arrested this evening at a private address in Rotorua.

He is appearing in Rotorua District Court tomorrow charged with failing to stop and unlawfully being in a motor vehicle. He is also expected to face a charge of attempted aggravated wounding.

Further charges are likely.
