Police have arrested a man in relation to a number of rural burglaries where a boat and several quad bikes were stolen.

The 23-year-old man, who had actively been avoiding police, was found yesterday hiding in the wardrobe of a Raumanga house.
He will be appearing in the Whangarei District Court today facing four charges of burglary, one charge of theft of a motor vehicle and theft.

The quad bikes were stolen from two Maungatapere properties in November and December. One of the properties was hit twice.
The boat and 15hp Yamaha outboard motor were stolen from a property on Port Road in early December.

Detective Sergeant Aaron Crawford said police have recovered one of the quads and the boat, but the other quads, the 15hp outboard motor and some other stolen property are yet to be located.

Mr Crawford said a thorough police investigation has led to the arrest of an offender for a number of rural burglaries.
