Police have arrested and charged a driver involved in a hit and run incident on Great North Road, New Lynn on Monday 28 May.
A 39-year-old man has been charged with Failing to Stop and Ascertain Injury and will appear in the Waitakere District Court on Monday.
Police are now in a position to release the name of the man who died in the incident.
He was 51-year-old Shaun Paul Bowker of Avondale.
Police would like to thank members of the public who stopped to help that night.
We would also like to speak to anyone who came into contact with the victim or assisted with first aid and encourage them to contact Detective Sergeant Peter Law from Waitemata Police on (09) 477 5000.
Enquiries are continuing and the matter is now before the courts.
