Man charged with tsunami evacuation burglary

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the burglary of a residential Christchurch address in the early hours of 14 November 2016, during the tsunami evacuation.
 
Electronic equipment and an expensive hearing aid device was stolen, along with the victim's work ute.
 
The man will appear in the Christchurch District Court on 21 December 2016.
 
Persistence by Police forensic teams and investigators contributed to the charging of the 24-year-old.
 
During the coming holiday period, Police encourage the public to contact them immediately should they notice anything unusual or suspicious.  In addition, ensure that if you are away you have neighbours and friends check on your home and  clear mail.
