Man lost in Eastern Hills found by Search and Rescue teams

1 min read

A man who took a scenic route home and got lost in the bush in Lower Hutt earlier this evening has been found safe and well.

At about 5pm on Thursday 20 October, 2016, Police received a call from a 46-year-old man who'd got lost in the Eastern Hills on his way home from Taita.

A Wellington Police Search and Rescue Team attended and with the help of a canine team member found the man fit and well, and helped him return home.

Police would like to thank Hutt City Rescue Team (NZRT18) for their help with the search and for providing logistical support.

Although this situation had a positive outcome, it serves as a timely reminder for everyone to always be prepared when travelling through the bush. Plan your route carefully and let others know where you're going and roughly what time you expect to arrive.
