Police are seeking information to identify this suspect who placed a sophisticated card skimming device on an Auckland ATM early yesterday morning.

The device was discovered last night.

The Auckland Financial Crime Unit are making enquiries to identify this person and are requesting help from the public.

Detective Senior Sergeant Aaron Pascoe from the Auckland Financial Crime Unit said "I am satisfied that no data has ended up in the offender's possession on this occasion, however I am concerned that the offender will attempt this again".

"A tell tale sign that an ATM machine has been tampered with could be difficulty getting a card in or out" said Pascoe.

"If the machine does not have a pin guard a good habit is to cover your hand when you enter your pin number as any data obtained is virtually useless without a correct pin number".

If anyone notices anything unusual about an ATM they are encouraged to contact their bank.
