Queenstown Police are seeking information from members of the public in relation to Matthew Alexander HAMILL who was last seen in the Frankton area of Queenstown on the afternoon of Wednesday, 29th October 2008.

 

On the morning of Thursday, 30th October 2008 Mr HAMILL’S Mitsubishi motor vehicle was located at the Roaring Meg look out, State Highway 8, Cromwell.

 

Some of Mr HAMILL’S personal belongings were located near the vehicle, down a steep bank leading to the Kawarau River.

 

An extensive land and river search was undertaken.

 

Indications from the area where he went missing are that Mr HAMILL took his own life, however his body has not been recovered.

 

Enquiries undertaken revealed Mr HAMILL appeared to travel on a regular basis to Oamaru. He also has ties in Auckland and overseas in Vietnam. 

 

The photograph of Mr HAMILL was taken in the period leading up to when he went missing. If Mr HAMILL is still alive he would now be aged 65 years. 

Queenstown Police are interested to hear from anyone who has information regarding Mr HAMILL’S disappearance and anyone who believed they may have sighted Mr HAMILL after 30th October 2008.
