Media stand-up: Porirua homicide investigation

Media are advised that Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee will be available at 2pm this afternoon for a brief stand-up on the Operation Bedford homicde investigation (Media release issued earlier is below)

Homicide Investigation: OPERATION BEDFORD At about 1050 pm last night Police responded to an incident at the residential address in Bedford Street, Porirua. A 37 year old Male occupant was located at the address with an injury believed to be caused by a knife.

Police and Emergency services staff have provided first aid care at the address. The Male was taken to the Wellington Hospital however he died during the early hours of the morning.

A Post Mortem will be undertaken today. The 37 year old Porirua male who died was an occupant of the Bedford Street address. Police have arrested and charged a 28 year old Porirua female for Murder.

The female arrested and the deceased were known to each other and were both occupants at the address. Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee from the Wellington District CIB states "This death appears to be related to a Family Violence incident." "I would like to reassure the Community that they are safe and that Police are not looking for any other person in regards to the death ".

"I am appealing to any persons who may have overheard any noise or activity from the address prior to Police arriving at the incident or seen any suspicious activity, to contact Police ". "Police are currently completing a number of inquiries and a scene examination to determine what happened at the address.
