Alexandra Police have located Russell Young, aged 81, who was reported missing from Alexandra overnight.
Mr Young was found in his vehicle at around 11.50am at Jacob's Ladder, in Gabriel's Gully near Lawrence.
It appears his vehicle has run off the road and down a bank and Mr Young has spent the night in his vehicle.
He was cold and disorientated when found but otherwise unharmed. He was transported to the medical centre at Milton for observation.
Police are full of praise for the public assistance in relation to this matter.
"From information received Police were able to confirm that Mr Young had travelled as far as Owaka and finding his vehicle at Lawrence was as a result of a call from a member of the public," Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk said.
Mr Young's family have been notified and are travelling to Milton to be with him.
They have expressed their gratitude to members of the public who assisted in locating Mr Young.
