Missing youth located in Waimate

Canterbury Police can confirm that a 15 year old girl who had runaway from her home in Timaru last night has been located safe and well outside a High Street address in Waimate. 

Sergeant Mike Van Der Heyden says “Her parents contacted Police at around 7am this morning with concerns for the welfare of their daughter after they had received a phone call from her asking to be picked up and taken home.  When her parents visited the address they were confronted by two men, one of which was holding what appeared to be a pistol.  Canterbury Police AOS and local Police visited the address and located the girl in a vehicle outside the residential property.  She was uninjured and has been returned safely to her family.”

Four men located at the address are being spoken by Police to in relation to possession of replica firearms, drugs and an air rifle. 

No arrests have been made at this time.

Inquiries are continuing and charges are likely to follow.
