Mosgiel Police investigating thefts of firewood, diesel and farm equipment

Mosgiel Police are looking for information in relation to a number of thefts and burglaries in the area around Taieri particularly south of Mosgiel.

Between 14 and 17 June, 10 metres of firewood valued at $700 and a woodsplitter valued at $3000 were stolen after the offender or offenders cut a chain to access the Gladfield Golf Course where the items were sited. Police believe a larger vehicle such as a truck was used to remove the items.

Senior Sergeant Al Dickie says thefts of firewood are occurring across the coastal Otago area and police would like to hear from members of the public with any information about suspicious handling and or sales of firewood.
Also on Monday 20 June offenders have entered a yard near the golf course on Gladstone Road which houses various equipment items and placed a large rotary hoe on a trailer in the yard however were unsuccessful in cutting the padlock to remove it.

Over recent months Senior Sergeant Dickie says there hae also been sporadic burglaries, and thefts of diesel and farm equipment across the Taieri particularly south of Mosgiel around Momona, Berwick , Outram , Henley and Waihola.
“We would ask that people are vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police preferably with descriptions of vehicles and individuals and number plates of vehicles,” said Senior Sergeant Dickie.
