A motorcyclist was killed this morning after a collision with a ute towing a trailer on State Highway 56 at the intersection of Walkers Road, in the settlement of Longburn.
The crash occurred just before 8am and Police, Fire, and Ambulance attended the scene.
Both the motorcycle and ute were travelling north bound at the time of the crash.
Attempts were made to resuscitate the motorcyclist, a male aged in his 50s, however he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are speaking with witnesses including the driver of the ute who did not sustain any injuries but is shaken from the crash.
Diversions on the Highway were put in place earlier this morning and have now been lifted.
Manawatu Police assisted by the Serious Crash Unit have launched an investigation and are working to determine what factors have led to the crash.
Officers have informed the man's family however his name will not be released until formal identification is completed.
