Mt Albert homicide - arrest

1 min read

A 25 year-old Mt Albert man has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Auckland District Court this afternoon charged with murdering 24 year-old Nathan Pukeroa who died in Renton Rd, Mt Albert, a week ago.

The accused has also been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to Mr Pukeroa’s 22 year-old associate who was seriously injured during the incident.

Police are continuing with a scene examination at 19 Renton Rd and expect to be there for at least the next few days.

Detective Inspector Chris Cahill says he is proud of the work the Operation Zest investigation team has done over the past week.

“Today’s development is a very welcome one but there’s still a lot of investigative and background work to do.

“We are, as usual, very appreciative of the assistance and support from the Mt Albert community over the past week and are relieved to be able to announce today’s arrest.”

The investigation team has recovered several items of interest today and is confident the weapon used to kill Mr Pukeroa is among them.
