Following a formal identification, Police can now name the man whose body was found near Pudney Rock off the coast of Tauranga on Monday 17 April, 2017.
He was 53-year-old Simon Francis Neil Oliver, of Maketu.
Mr Oliver had not been seen since his car was found submerged in the Kaituna River following a crash on 31 March 2017.
The Serious Crash Unit's investigation into the cause of that crash is ongoing.
Our thoughts are with Mr Oliver’s family and friends at this time.
