Name released in Lincoln fatality

Police have released the name of the woman who was killed in a motor vehicle collision with a horse near Lincoln last night [Thursday 5 December].

She was Diana Clair Morton, aged 56, of Lincoln.

Mrs Morton was the driver of a car travelling south on Birchs Road towards Lincoln. At around 9.50pm the car struck a horse which was loose in the road carriageway, near the intersection with Leadleys Road.

Mrs Morton was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, a passenger in the car, received minor injuries and was treated at the scene by ambulance staff.

Police have now identified the owner of the horse, which is believed to have escaped from a nearby paddock, and which died at the scene of the crash. Enquiries will be made with the owner today.

The police investigation into the crash is continuing.
