Names of dead in Patea fatal released

Police are still investigating a fatal crash between a car and tanker truck, which occurred on 25th February 2016, on Patea’s Egmont Street. 

Police can now confirm that the three who died in the crash were;
Cherylene Alison Bayne aged 61, John James William Bayne aged 64 who were brother and sister, and Chantelle Nikita Giles (nee Broughton/Nillson) aged 22.   All were from Patea.

The driver of the tanker who died after the crash can now be named as Michael Douglas Fairclough aged 53.  His death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the coroner. 
Our thoughts go out to all the families involved and Police would like to thank the people that stopped and assisted at the scene.
Police offers its collective condolences and sympathies to the families and the wider communities that are suffering due to these tragic events.  Victim support continues to work with the families in relation to the crash.
