Nelson Police investigating Norwich Street incident

Nelson Police are investigating after a teenage girl was approached and grabbed by a man on her way to school this morning. 

Sergeant Sally McBride said that the man grabbed the girl on her shoulder and started to speak to her. The girl was uncomfortable with this and made her way to school, where she reported the incident. 

Police are following strong lines of enquiry into the identity of this male and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, which took place in Norwich Street at around 8.20am.   

In response to the incident, Police will be conducting extra patrols in the area.  The schools in the area have been advised and are closely monitoring the students.   

This is an isolated incident to date and the investigation is continuing.
