Mobile Police Base

A new mobile police base for Auckland and Waitemata Police will allow officers to become ‘more street than station’ when it launches this week.

It is the second of two mobile police bases now available in Auckland and will allow Police to be out in the community in areas where they are most needed.

Police Commissioner Mike Bush says it allows people who may not be able to get to a physical station to get advice on how to keep themselves safe and to interact with Police.

“The new mobile Police base will enable staff to spend more time preventing and responding to crime. It also allows front-line officers to further engage with local communities.”

The Counties Manukau and Wellington mobile police bases have proven their value for members of the public who don’t have easy access to transport.

The new mobile Police base is custom built with radios and other equipment which means it can also be used for district operations.

Police staff will share this service as needed and it will be operated by front line sworn officers.
