No problems at Mob celebrations

1 min read

Police say the Mongrel Mob 50th anniversary celebrations in Hastings this weekend went without incident.

The celebrations were held at the Te Aute Hotel on SH2 last night with a large number of gang members attending from around the country.  Both the memorial run and the event at the hotel occurred without any problems or issues.  The gang had been granted a special liquor licence to hold the event.

Inspector Andy Sloan said police made no arrests and were not called to manage any incidents related to either the memorial run or the hotel celebrations.

"Everything went smoothly and there was great co-operation from the gang.  They abided by all the conditions of their licence and it was a well-managed event,"  Mr Sloan said.

By comparison, police were called to numerous fights and disorder events across Napier and Hastings last night.
