NZ's #HipHopCops perform at national hip hop champs

1 min read

The NZ Police #runningmanchallenge dance crew called in extra support from a colleague with specialist break dancing experience when they performed at the Hip Hop Unite (NZ) National Champs last night (Saturday 2 July). All of the performers are serving police officers and carried out their demanding routine while wearing their operational uniform.

Police's performance at the event was met by a standing ovation, proving a hit with the youth in the audience. "Our performance allowed us to positively engage with youth who were present and let aspiring recruits know that all sorts of people work at NZ Police, including people with a love of hip hop music and dance" said Police's National Manager of Brand and Engagement, James Whitaker.

"After the performance there was a massive queue of happy kids who were keen to take selfies with the crew" he said.

A short video of their performance can be viewed on the NZ Police Recruitment Facebook page. The video was posted on the Facebook page at around 9:30AM on Sunday 3 July and reached over 400,000 people in two hours.

The full performance can be found on the NZ Police Recruitment Youtube channel
