Op Concord - all infant formula samples test negative for 1080

1 min read

Attribute to Assistant Commissioner Malcolm Burgess:

Police can tonight confirm that samples of infant formula suspected of possible tampering by the public and sent for further analysis by Police, have all tested negative for 1080.

The infant formula in those tins was safe for infants to consume.

The test results appear to confirm the Police view that issues highlighted by the public about the tins arose from normal manufacturing or handling issues.

Police and other agencies would like to thank the public for their continued vigilance when buying infant and other formula.  The parents involved here did the right thing. As always, consumers should check all product for tampering, as outlined in the MPI customer leaflet found at www.foodprotection.govt.nz and available at supermarkets.

Police encourage anyone who suspects their product has been tampered with to report this to the Police immediately on 0800 723 665.
