Otara homicide update

1 min read

Counties/Manukau Police have arrested a 36 year-old Otara steelworker who will appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow charged with the murder of 24 year-old Chevy Davis who died at a Fisher Cres, Otara, address early this morning. The accused will also be charged with wounding with intent to cause grevious bodily harm in relation to Mr Davis' 28 year-old cousin.

Mr Davis was attending his cousin's 21st birthday celebration when he and the 28 year-old cousin were allegedly assaulted. The injured man is in a stable condition in Middlemore Hospital.

Detective Inspector Dave Lynch says it appears an argument over music sparked the confrontation that has, tragically, resulted in Mr Davis' death and a serious criminal charge against the 36 year-old man.

"I can't rule out the possibility of further charges or arrests but time will tell. The investigation is ongoing and we'd appreciate any assistance we can get from anyone who thinks they have information."
